I was an incredibly healthy child and I played sport all day every day. Name a sport and I’ve probably tried it.
At 17 however I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, which was followed by a diagnosis of depression and fructose malabsorption. (that’s kinda what happens when you’re forced to stop all the things you love).
I was advised to follow the FODMAP diet and did so for a couple of years. I felt great but the diet quickly became tiresome, particularly when it came to social events.
Over time, we made changes to my diet, did testing of my microbiome, and did further breath testing to investigate the root cause of my issues. Candida was a big problem but was only the tip of the iceberg. I also had small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, dysbiosis, low stomach acid due to long-term stress, and I was later diagnosed with parasites, to top it all off.
It took time to resolve, but I honestly believe that without our health we have nothing at all. Restoring my gut health bought my energy levels up to new heights and has allowed me to go after my dreams. I no longer follow the low-FODMAP diet, and I regularly consume onions, garlic, and an abundance of fruits that were once a no-go.
After 15 years of living through food intolerances, it made sense to turn my learnings into a program.
